It was a great oriviledge and honor to share Sunday School with Floyd. We cherish fond memories of his wisdom, wit, and faith. His teachings live on. With warmest regards, Russ and Carollee Logan
When I think of Floyd I think of how he would engage you with hug when he saw you immediately coming into church. He had a contagious smile and vigor for life, his family and Jesus Christ his Savior. And I still remember him talking about his 10 minute power naps! I have never figured out how to stop at just 10 mins Floyd but I sure am trying!
We were blessed to have shared time with Floyd, even if it was only for a few, short years. His concern was always for others, never himself. Even in failing health he continued to reach out to others with prayers as well as words of comfort and encouragement. Our deepest sympathy to all of his family. Mike and Angela Ozymy
Floyd was a true gift to our church group at St. Andrews Methodist Church in Arlington. He will be truely missed by Dorliss and I. May God be with all of you during this time. He was a true friend.
Floyd had the personality to take over any room and to make everyone feel welcome and loved. We always enjoyed hearing stories about the amazing trips that he and Emily took(sometimes the stories from the fishing trips were a little far-fetched, but they were always fun and exciting). We always took it for granted that Floyd was a disciple and that he inspired faith and hope in all of the places that he visited. He has truly been an inspiration to our family and has shown us the way. Floyd will be missed every day, but we know that his work continues here through Emily, Ken and Kenda.
Floyd was one of those people who demonstrated what a Spirit-filled man looked like, always filled with the joy of the Lord. He taught me much about how to pray with others, how to stop what you were doing and appreciate the presence of God, how to be an unashamed witness, how to ask the Holy Spirit into any situation, and many things. Floyd never shied away from any topic and always spoke or taught with conviction. I will always remember those things I learned from him and I will get an opportunity to thank him again one day, praise the Lord! I was so blessed to know Floyd and appreciated Emily sharing him with us for several years at St. Andrews UMC!
We're so grateful that God allowed our path and Floyd Diehm's to cross on this earthly journey. He was a beautiful, loving spirit and a gift to all who knew him. It has been said that a Christain should be the kind of person that people love to see coming and are sad to see leaving ~ we are immeasureably sad that Floyd has left. With our love to his family, Worth and Dorothy Blake
I loved Floyd's Sunday classes. My most vivid memory of his HEART was when I went to his home to discuss my anxiety problems-he listened, suggested Io buy his small book called "Positive Practice Produces Power" =it is a great book that I carry when on a trip out of town years later. It gives me great strenght in the Lord. Now I understand why Floyd made me pay $$ to him for it-I assumed as we were friends, it would be a gift! Only now, as my anxiety issues are virtualy cured, do I know that The $$money got me committed not only to the book, but to God, and the auther, our dearest most Loved Floyd. I am now crying tears of sorrow and joy -I will chereish these 2 books )yes, I bought another!-just in case -go figure- Floyd and all the Diehms, mark +all the Dombrowsky's love you greatly
When we moved here 2 years ago Floyd sought me out to tell me how impt the youth of our church are and to let me know he'd be in prayer for me daily. Every time since then he would remind me that he was praying. God gave me strength and confidence through Floyd's words. I will dearly miss my daily intercessor. Jenny Davidson
Peace be with you all. So very many of us have been Blessed by the experience of knowing your husband, dad and grandfather. He touched so many people, warmly taking us by the hand and leading with gentle grace and an open heart. The love and compassion he showed to my family and the enthusiasm he had for life changed us all forever. I will long hear his voice reminding me "God is in control." Now as he enters into a new phase of life everlasting, I am sure there is a smile waiting for him and the encouraging words, "Well done my Son, welcome home." Thank you for sharing this beutiful man with us over these many years. Much Love and heart felt sympathy, Lori Bedford
Floyd was hands-down the most encouraging person I've ever met. I always looked forward to his visits because he had an amazing ability to put my work in perspective and make me feel great about what I was doing. The greatest lesson I learned from him was to be appreciative to people for what they do - and tell them about it! He will be greatly missed. m
Dear Emily, Ken, Kenda, Kally, Kody, and family- We are thinking of you all and asking God to be with you at this time. We loved Floyd dearly and remember him and Emily so often, especially our Sunday School Class and the Super Seniors get togethers. We have so many special memories. Floyd always had something positive to say about our family giving us encouragement and we will miss him dearly, but we know we'll see him someday in God's presence. He was a good and faithful servant. He always quoted Phillipians 3:1 "Finally my brothers (and sisters) rejoice in the Lord". Love in Christ, Louis and Ruth Gonzales and Family.
I had the privelege of serving on the prayer committee with Floyd and Emily. As the committee would go around the table, praying for individuals, I was always anxious to hear Floyd pray. Although many of the prayer requests are quite sad, he always had encouraging words as he prayed. He always gave God the glory in every circumstance. Although he was always encouraging,he always truly looked like he felt the pain of the people he was praying for. Lorie Payne
Good handshake, warm heart, kind man...what I remember is the strength of family and church. I remember seeing him and Emily on the other side of the soccer field (Ken's team) cheering on Kody as he scored 3 goals against my team.
I remember watching him at St. Andrews, supporting God and son - this was a holy man, a respectable man.
and more recently at 1st Church - his walk was a bit slower but he always had time for a shake and a hello.
What greater joy can a father have then raising a son that is a positive influence to thousands. What greater happiness can a husband have then sharing time with a loving and kind hearted wife.
He is an example for all of us to look up to. I will miss him and I pray that the grief the family feels is replaced with the thought that he has strengthened us all.
Steve and I were blessed to have Floyd join our Disciple 4 class the year before you all left SA. It was such a blessing to have someone so knowledgable about Revelation as a member of our class, showing us that even though he had written a book on that very subject, he could always learn more. The thing he taught us that we will never forget is the bottom line message of Revelation being that "God wins!" It is so simple and so overlooked when studying Revelation. We will miss him very much. Prayers and love to you all! Irene and Steve Read
I will always remember Floyd greeting me with a smile a a firm handshake at St. Andrews UMC in Arlington. I will remember him with Emily by his side, in the sanctuary, in the link, and especially in our Sunday school class. The idea of paying it forward especially comes to my mind when I think of the great work he did with my friend John White. The Sunday school class was all the better for these gentlemen. Another great gift from Floyd and Emily is their son Ken Diehm. So many of us have benefited so much from having had this good friend and pastor in our lives. Emily, Ken, Kenda, Kally and Kody, you are, and will always be in my heart and prayers. May the Lord shine His face upon you. Rosemary Roeske
I have been blessed in so many ways and have learned so much from Floyd. He was certainly one of a kind. Both he and Emily were so instrumental in developing my faith and helping me want to be a better Christian. I will never forget the experiences we shared during bible study at their home and the stories he shared during sunday school class. He and Emily and all the Diehms will always hold a special place in my heart. Love to you all, Mary Jane
Ken, Kenda and Family, It is with our deepest sympathy and love for you all today! We too have learned great lessons from your father thru your sermons! He definitely had a heart for the Lord!!! May you feel God's comfort and peace during this time. As you have shared with all of us. . . To grieve is to love! God Bless You All! Sally and Vernon Itz
My greatest memory of your Dad was his great smile -- I would be a greeter in church and he would always shine a great smile on me. I know he is shining in heaven! Peace be with you and your family during this time. Diane Dangelmaier
Emily, Ken, Kenda and family, I have so many wonderful memeories of Floyd, but the one that stands out the most are those of support and understanding. Floyd always had a way of making me feel better about myself. He always seemed to understand what I was talking about. He was always so patient with me and always took the time no matter how much of a hurry he may have been in. Floyd was such a wonderful man and my life is truly blessed to have known him in this life. Thank you Floyd for being you! My love and prayers are with all of you! Love, Brenda Hanlin
My memories of Floyd was in our prayer team when he drew my son's name to pray for him. I remember him coming over to me to discuss his needs and was genuinely concerned about my son and how he offered words of encouragement. He will be truly missed. What a great man he was and the impact he has made. Love, Karen and Thomas Ferdynus
Emily, and family---What a precious man. I am so blessed to have been friends with and worshiped with you both, at SA-UMC. We had great times, and I don't remember a times that I met each one of you, that you weren't smiling and genuine with your concern and love. Floyd had a beautiful way of making you feel important, and was always happy to talk to you no matter what the topic, or problem you had. I know the precious memories you have and God's loving care will fill your heart with comfort and peace. My love and prayers to all of you. Love, Judy Granger
Memories are important and we are left with many wonderful ones of Floyd. However the present is the important thing to think about. "Absent from the body, present with the Lord," is the encouragement we need. May this Scripture be a blessing to you. Carolyn and Don
The Memorial Service yesterday was a grand and glorious celebration of the life a true Christian. Prior to all the comments on how Floyd was always encouraging others, we thought that we were the only ones. He was so sincere and so personal with his comments, it always seemed to be special and just for you. It was a gift and a great example of how to lift others. He was such a great member of our Sunday School class and yet we know he always wanted to say more, but he would hold back not wanting to dominate the discussion. But when he did contribute, it was always relevant, concise and exactly what needed to be said. What a gift. He will be missed.
Frances and I remember Floyd first as fellow student at NCC and Phillips Graduate school and best man at our wedding. His energy, enthusiasm, love and skill for preaching, and his genuine love will always be part of our memory. Even though our ways parted after seminary we never forgot the good times that we had and the closeness we felt. Since I served the little Ceres, Okla church while in seminary where he grew up I came to know him from a different perspective and thus came to appreciate him more. George Knox, Eugene, Oregon.
Floyd had the wonderful ability to calm me, comfort me, and always let me know how God was in control of EVERYTHING! He had the uncanny ability to know how I felt about so many things...and how I needed to let go and let God handle them! His prayers were so heartfelt and intense...I knew he had a special line to God and was thankful to be a party to them! As everyone has said, he will be sorely missed. But I will always be able to see his smile, feel his hug and hear his words in my heart! Love and prayers to all, Trudy
